In the Footsteps of Saint Francis
The Franciscan Friars of the Holy Spirit embody the Gospel spirit of metanoia - ongoing conversion - in the Franciscan tradition. We are called by God to preach penance, minister among the poor, work in ecumenical outreaches, and foster personal relationships with Jesus Christ.
Who We Are
We live lives of penance, striving always to take up our crosses and follow closely after Jesus Christ. This is lived concretely through “the spiritual martyrdom of the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience” (Statutes 5).
We are a Catholic religious community of men in the Franciscan tradition of metanoia (ongoing conversion), established in the Diocese of Phoenix under the guidance and direction of Bishop Thomas Olmsted.
Our charisms of prayer and metanoia fuel our missionary and evangelical outreach, through which we humbly seek to serve the communities entrusted to us by the Church.
Our Purpose
To live the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ for the salvation of souls.
Our Vision
We foster relationships with God through the experience of the Holy Spirit, that those we encounter may possess eternal happiness in Jesus Christ.
Our Mission
To live lives of poverty, chastity, and obedience, serving the forgotten and marginalized through prayer, compassion, and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
